Many of our students who have participated our foundation course over the last few years say “I wish I had known all this sooner”.
Susie explains how in reality life really wouldn’t have been all that different if you had yoga in your life sooner.
“If you can control the rising of the mind into ripples, you will experience Yoga.”
I have had yoga in my life a long time but what would I have done differently had I realised what yoga was about it sooner? nothing.
Let’s be clear from the outset, I have had a fun filled life and I don’t regret anything.
Well a part from one, holding on to things longer than I should have done.
These ‘things’ are tangible and intangible.
Yamas and Niyamas
The precepts of yoga are the Yamas and Niyamas forming part of the 8 fold path, Patanjali.
These are ethics of how we conduct ourselves. Guidelines on an internal and external level.
To practice even 10% of the Yamas and Niyamas is a huge discipline.
If we are mindful of them and persistent of this self-study, they give us an insight into our behaviour.
Like my example, holding on to things perhaps a little too long for our own good.
Acceptance and Yoga
This self-study or awareness brings us to a point of easier acceptance when things change or in fact a cycle ends.
If I had been more aware, I would have let go of certain situations with a lot less angst and a lot sooner.
Now, I am not fearful of this type of letting go and knowing that other paths come along, which are even more interesting.
Manifesting Your Yoga
Through decades of practice this has manifested and is instilled within me.
Now I tend not to get caught up. I let things pass by naturally.
I accept what is placed in front of me and approach it with the resources I have to hand at that moment.
Your past and Yoga
In some ways we have all dealt with situations with what we have had to hand at that moment in time. But now you have your yoga tool box.
Yoga is a name for the tools you have always had available to you but not necessarily used. Yoga enhances who are truly are.
Your future and Yoga
Just remember there is always something else coming that will bring an even bigger smile to our face and lift our spirit. Yoga moves with you as life does.
